PMC Snowflake Class

17 November 2010 classes by Add Your Comment (0)

I introduced Brooke the other day as our new PMC instructor and now I am introducing you to her first class! Brooke will be teaching a very cute PMC Snowflake and just in time for the holidays. This is a two evening class and it includes all supplies for the cost. What could be better? This is a beginner class so all levels of experience are welcome. Here is a description and a picture of what you will be making. (I have been playing with Picnik can you tell by my picture?! )

Intro to PMC: Snowflake with bail

How can a lump of clay turn into a sparkling shiny piece of fine silver jewelry? That is exactly what we
will show you in this class!

We will use a silicone mold to shape the clay into the snowflake – then explore the art of creating a
strong bail (which is the part that the necklace passes through) that most necklaces will pass through.
We will also finish the piece by polishing, burnishing and applying patina.

Class is split into 2 days so that the 1st night is the construction of the clay, we fire the pieces in the kiln
at the end of that night (when you go home), and spend the 2nd night finishing.

Everyone will go home with a finished snowflake just in time for the freezing cold winter here in
Southern California.
