I started beading about 3 years ago because I wanted to make my own jewelry instead of buying it. I especially love the sparkle and texture of beads. I have recently been dabbling with polymer clay after taking a class at the Bouncing Bead and I love it!

Congratulations Ginny! Please email me within 72 hours to claim your prize michelle@thebouncingbead.com

That is the end of a very successful blog giveaway and thanks for all of you who participated!

Hi Everyone! I am really excited to kick off our first blog giveaway here at The Bouncing Bead. If you don’t know what a Blog Giveaway is, read this post to find out: What is a Blog Giveaway. Without further ado here it is!

Tools are one of the most essential items needed for any beading project, besides the beads of course. There are so many different types of tools available that choosing what to start with can can get a little overwhelming. Different projects require different tools and the price can add up. The good news is that you usually only have to buy them once as long as you buy good quality tools. In my opinion, you don’t need to buy top of the line right away. The tools that we suggest for your everyday beading and wire-working projects are very affordable and are the same tools we use everyday. If you ever want to see how they work before buying them, just come into the store and take a look. When you are ready to create and sell jewelry for a living then I would move up to the Lindstrom family of tools (which we sell). Another important thing to take into consideration when buying tools is how easy they are to use. When buying tools make sure they have a spring action. That way, you only have to squeeze them and not pull them back open as they spring open on their own. This protects your hands from getting fatigued. Not all tools come with this option but the better ones do, including the brands we carry. Also, we plan to begin selling these items in our online store for those of you who can’t make it to the store. We carry a wide range of tools from Euro Tools and Bead Smith to Lindstrom which are top of the line and available by special order. The Bead Smith Ergonomic Deluxe Tool Set (retail $59.95) is a great beginning set of tools and is our First Blog Giveaway!

In this tool set you will get the following tools:

Chain nose pliers

Round nose pliers

Side cutter

Nylon Jaw Flat Nose Plier

Crimping plier

Knot cutter

Knotting tweezer

Split ring tweezer

ScoopEEz

Leather zip case to hold them all!

What a great set of tools and perfect for anyone who is into beading or thinking about getting started!

Now down to the nitty gritty of how to enter to win! If you have any questions on this please leave a comment and I will answer. The giveaway ends on August 6th so any entries after August 5th 12am will not be entered!
