We had a fantastic turnout for our first Blog Giveaway here at The Bouncing Bead with a total of 64 entries! It has been a lot of fun reading how many of you got interested in beading. If you have not read them please go and take a look!
To choose a winner I used a random number generator available online. You just type in the lowest and highest numbers, click generate and it chooses your number for you. For those of you who did not win this time don’t worry we will have more giveaways in the future. I am also getting product listed in our online store and have been able to add a few tools so if you would like to purchase some tools hop on over to the webstore.

I started beading about 3 years ago because I wanted to make my own jewelry instead of buying it. I especially love the sparkle and texture of beads. I have recently been dabbling with polymer clay after taking a class at the Bouncing Bead and I love it!

Tools are one of the most essential items needed for any beading project, besides the beads of course. There are so many different types of tools available that choosing what to start with can can get a little overwhelming. Different projects require different tools and the price can add up. The good news is that you usually only have to buy them once as long as you buy good quality tools. In my opinion, you don’t need to buy top of the line right away. The tools that we suggest for your everyday beading and wire-working projects are very affordable and are the same tools we use everyday. If you ever want to see how they work before buying them, just come into the store and take a look. When you are ready to create and sell jewelry for a living then I would move up to the Lindstrom family of tools (which we sell). Another important thing to take into consideration when buying tools is how easy they are to use. When buying tools make sure they have a spring action. That way, you only have to squeeze them and not pull them back open as they spring open on their own. This protects your hands from getting fatigued. Not all tools come with this option but the better ones do, including the brands we carry. Also, we plan to begin selling these items in our online store for those of you who can’t make it to the store. I posted on Facebook the other day about having a blog giveaway and someone responded “What’s that?” So here I am to explain what a blog giveaway is to all you newbies.
In the blogging community there is a HUGE movement of using bloggers to promote products, stores, artists, ideas with giveaways of products. They can come from small companies to big companies, Etsy shops to local artists, your own items to someone you know. It is great advertising for the person supplying the product and it also helps the blogger to get more followers! It is also very cool for the winner as they get FREE stuff!
By doing Blog Giveaways here at The Bouncing Bead we would love to have more people find out about us. Both our physical store but also our growing online store and our Facebook community. We also want to introduce new products, favorite products and local artists. The larger our following is the cooler the giveaways will be as crafting suppliers will be more likely to donate products for us to giveaway in exchange for getting their name here on The Blog. For right now though I have asked Laura to set aside some really cool things to giveaway until we get to that point. We will only be giving away items we absolutely love and highly recommend!

You may be asking yourself “What do I have to do to win?” Well you will have to do a few things to get entered into the giveaway but they are painless I assure you. I will always have 1 entry for everyone no matter what! It will probably be an easy question about beading or something. You will then leave your answer as a comment on the blog. Your email address remains hidden and only I can see it and won’t share it! When the end date of the giveaway comes I will count the entries and use a random number generator to pull the winner. You do not have to be local to win as we will ship your prize to you but you have to live in the Continental US, sorry no out of country shipping.
