Hi Everyone! I am really excited to kick off our first blog giveaway here at The Bouncing Bead. If you don’t know what a Blog Giveaway is, read this post to find out: What is a Blog Giveaway. Without further ado here it is!
Tools are one of the most essential items needed for any beading project, besides the beads of course. There are so many different types of tools available that choosing what to start with can can get a little overwhelming. Different projects require different tools and the price can add up. The good news is that you usually only have to buy them once as long as you buy good quality tools. In my opinion, you don’t need to buy top of the line right away. The tools that we suggest for your everyday beading and wire-working projects are very affordable and are the same tools we use everyday. If you ever want to see how they work before buying them, just come into the store and take a look. When you are ready to create and sell jewelry for a living then I would move up to the Lindstrom family of tools (which we sell). Another important thing to take into consideration when buying tools is how easy they are to use. When buying tools make sure they have a spring action. That way, you only have to squeeze them and not pull them back open as they spring open on their own. This protects your hands from getting fatigued. Not all tools come with this option but the better ones do, including the brands we carry. Also, we plan to begin selling these items in our online store for those of you who can’t make it to the store. We carry a wide range of tools from Euro Tools and Bead Smith to Lindstrom which are top of the line and available by special order. The Bead Smith Ergonomic Deluxe Tool Set (retail $59.95) is a great beginning set of tools and is our First Blog Giveaway!

In this tool set you will get the following tools:
- Chain nose pliers
- Round nose pliers
- Side cutter
- Nylon Jaw Flat Nose Plier
- Crimping plier
- Knot cutter
- Knotting tweezer
- Split ring tweezer
- ScoopEEz
- Leather zip case to hold them all!
What a great set of tools and perfect for anyone who is into beading or thinking about getting started!
Now down to the nitty gritty of how to enter to win! If you have any questions on this please leave a comment and I will answer. The giveaway ends on August 6th so any entries after August 5th 12am will not be entered!

Hey, this is a good idea, gals! Oh and what got me interested in beading was that I am picky and could never find things that I liked in regular stores. I really like to match and it’s expensive to match all the time! Holy cow! So, I started making my own stuff and people started liking what I was wearing and then they wanted to buy it and viola! I was off and running…

I honestly don’t even remember when I first started beading, it’s been so long! I know that my mom was my inspiration though, it seems like she always had some crafty little thing for us to do. I had a small bead loom when I was in elementary school, and used to make bracelets for myself, my friends, and my sister with it. This was back when New Kids on the Block were popular, so of course I made myself some that said “NKOTB” Ha!

I started when i was about 14 when my grandmother gave me a bunch of her old costume jewelry. i loved the vintage beads and recreated some of it to fit my personality. I’ve had fun ever since!

I started beading about 3 years ago because I wanted to make my own jewelry instead of buying it. I especially love the sparkle and texture of beads. I have recently been dabbling with polymer clay after taking a class at the Bouncing Bead and I love it!

A little over three and a half years ago, I mentioned to my family that I might like to take a beading class. Lo and behold, I received a gift certificate for that Christmas for the Bouncing Bead. It took me almost another year to use the gift and sign up for my first class with Laura.
Voila! Addiction! It’s turned into a wonderful passion and business.

I started beading when I was student teaching. One of my parents gave me a gift certificate to a bead store in the area.

#1 – I have been beading since I was a little kid. My friend had these cool beaded bracelets and would make them for people, but wouldn’t show me how to make them myself, so I figured it out on my own and have been hooked ever since. I remember selling beaded rings and bracelets to my sister’s friends for $0.25 or $0.50!
What a cool giveaway! Despite the fact that I live hundreds of miles away from The Bouncing Bead, it remains my favorite “local” bead shop and I try to stop by anytime I’m back in San Diego.

Entry #1. I started beading after inheriting my grammie’s stash of beads. She went through a phase of making beaded flowers, so there was a ton of “brand new” hanks of beads from the 60s or 70s and wire. My first beading class I took was at Bouncing Bead, and it has been a great hobby.

Entry #1–I have always played around with beads, but what got me started stringing is my ex-husband telling me while we were living in Mexico, “If the hippies can do it, so can we.” Mexico City is a FANTASTIC place for beads, gems and minerals of all kinds and all prices (if you happen to go, check out Minas de Brazil).

Entry #1 — It all started in jr high school, when my older sister got me a Christmas present, it was a box full of beads and materials. At the time I had no idea of jewelry making, but I loved my present. As years went by, I still had some beads left, I told myself that one day I’ll make something out of those reminding beads. Now, I have educated myself on jewelry making and it has become my passion. I LOVE IT!! <3
Now am know as Natalie's Bead Tree, and I will continue to make jewelry.

I started beading a little over a year ago. A friend of mine made all of our jewelry for her wedding and after I saw what she had made I wanted to try it. I googled bead classes and found the Bouncing Bead. I signed up for basic beading and intro to wire, both with Laura. I loved her classes and have been taking them ever since
