Welcome to the new Upcoming Week post here on The Bouncing Bead Blog! This will be up every Sunday and will give you a good look at the classes coming this week and any other announcements that pertain to this specific week. So lets get started!
Classes this week: Being a holiday week the classes are light!
Basic Beading June 28th 6pm – 8pm
Holiday Hours on July 3rd are 10am – 4pm
Have a fantastic week and get creative!
We have an amazing new class that will teach you the fun of working with leather! We get questions all the time asking for ideas on mens jewelery and we think this project would be perfect for men and women alike. You can make a wide cuff and make a watch or embellish it with rivets for the more masculine look or you can embellish it with beads for a more feminine look. Let your imagination take flight with possibilities with this new class!

Have you had a chance to meet our teacher Donna Struthers? If not then here is your chance!

My goal in teaching is, first of all, to send students home with the finished project pictured in the class description.
Perhaps more important is teaching the skills so that students will be able to reproduce their work at home or in the studio, and to be able to build on the knowledge gained in class to add to their list of jewelry making skills.
Many techniques have what might be called ‘crossover possibilities’ – if you consider that the technique you just learned for making a bracelet could be tweaked just a bit to make a great pendant or a pair of earrings you have actually learned a useful technique, not just the directions for making one project. Each class will include ideas to keep the creativity going, and to realize what else may be possible with the same materials and techniques.
Making jewelry can be seen as a series of questions or problems- what to do if the hole in the bead is too large, too small, the wire is too thin, the earring is too heavy, the bracelet doesn’t fit right. There are some ‘rules’ that have shortcuts, and some that do not. The bewildering array of tools available can be overwhelming- we’ll discuss what tools are really necessary to complete your project, and which ones you can get by without.
Oops, and not to forget rule number one: Have fun in class!!!
Happy creating!
